The treasure of Bukyovtzi

The treasure of Bukyovtzi, Oryahovo Municipality is kept at the National Archaeology Museum. The treasure consists of two silver phials, a silver jug, a silver jewel, a forehead jewel in the shape of a falcon, a silver gobele/ a kind of a cup/ with gold coating, applications of two intertwined lotus flowers. It dates back to the end of V c. B.C. about the year 339.

Very impressive is the refined gobele. Under its mouth there is a frieze of engraved and gold coated lotus flowers, alternating with palm leaves. The body of the cup is covered with horizontal fluting and with a gold belt of ornaments at the bottom. The forehead jewel is one of the earliest stylized images of a falcon.
