The Iskretzki Monastery is hugged at the foot of the Western Stara Planina. It is a bit far away from the main road for the gorge of the Iskar River. The monastery remained isolated from the world during the Ottoman yoke. Nevertheless, significant works of art were created here. The church has no external decoration, according to the Turkish requirements, but has interesting murals from two periods - XVII and XIX c. The older scenes of the murals are with many figures and dynamics, with harsh and impetuous movements with memorable expressive gestures. The colour scheme is of five basic colours: white, black, red, green and gold-ochre. During XIX c. here were depicted scenes with a didactic-punishing character. The inclusion of such scenes, typical for that time, is explained with the common moralizing spirit of the Enlightenment. The artist's style creates a concept of the world, naturalness and light humour.
