The Alino Monastery "Saint Spas" is situated on the slopes of Plana Mountain at a distance of 7 km north of the village of Alino, the Samokov Region. The settlement has existed since XVI c. and was mentioned in the Ottoman documents from 1576. The people of Alino and its surroundings were occupied with ore-mining. The obtained ore was processed in the town of Samokov which is described as a prosperous and rich town. The Alino Monastery is closely related to the spiritual life of Samokov. It became a rich monastery. Today from the monastery is preserved only the church. It is a single-nave, single-apside with a semi-cylindrical vault. The church was totally decorated with murals painted in 1626. According to the scientists here worked at least two icon-painters. The artistic mastery of the murals determine the Alino Monastery as a monument of the Bulgarian art.
