Bulgaria’s music is, like any other nation’s, multifaceted and layered into different periods and genres. The following list is by no means exhaustive, but should give you an initial idea of what Bulgarian music is like.

1. Bulgaria is the place to be

“Bulgaria is the place to be!“, says Sylvester Stallone in the country’s new promotional video.  He and five other world celebrities are the headliners in the clip who do not only promote our country but also showcase their own personal attitude to Bulgaria as a must-see and experience place. These celebrities willingly use their popularity to tell the world about their experience of Bulgaria and to invite fans to come and visit.

2. Cacao beach - DJ Nakadia

Seephrai Mungphanklang better known by her stage name Nakadia, is a Thai DJ and producer based in Berlin, Germany.
She began her career as a disc jockey in 2003. In 2011, Nakadia toured São Paulo, Brazil and performed at D'Edge. She performed in prestigious clubs such as Cafe D'Antwerp of Belgium, Tresor of Germany, Sugar Factory of the Netherlands, and had performances in major festivals in Europe such as Loveparade and Queensday. She released three songs through the labels JETT Records of France and NB Records of Austria.

3. Krisia Todorova and Hasan and Ibrahim

Hasan and Ibrahim:

Twin pianists of Bulgarian and Turkish descent. Along with Krisia Todorova, they represented Bulgaria in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Malta with the song "Planet of the Children"
Young pianists Hasan and Ibrahim Ignatovi have received over 50 awards from different competitions for pianists from several domestic and overseas competitions - Bulgaria, Turkey, Macedonia, Austria and Russia. For the short period of two years and seven months musical career, the piano virtuosos Ignatov Brothers have won many prestigious national and international competitions, not just as a duo, but individually as well.

Krisia Todorova:

Krisia Todorova is a Bulgarian child singer, composer and music writer. Todorova has received seven awards from different national and international music competitions held in Bulgaria, but 2014 was her major breakthrough year side Ludogorets Razgrad and Spanish club Valencia.
In November 2014, Todorova along with twins Hasan and Ibrahim represented Bulgaria at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Malta with the song "Planet of the Children". They finished in second place with a total of 147 points, just twelve points behind winner – Italy. Todorova was subsequently received by President Rosen Plevneliev and was given an honorary distinction.

 

4. Poli Genova - Eurovision 2016

Poli Genova is a Bulgarian singer, songwriter, actress, and television presenter.
Poli Genova went on to represent Bulgaria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song "Na inat", not qualifying for the final. She returned to the Eurovision five years later, representing Bulgaria for the second time in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "If Love Was a Crime". After bringing Bulgaria to the finals for the first time since 2007, Genova went on to place fourth, which at the time became Bulgaria's best placing of all-time in the contest.
Outside of performing, Genova has also appeared as a coach or mentor on The Voice of Bulgaria and X Factor Bulgaria, voiced the Bulgarian version of Judy Hopps in the film Zootopia, and hosted the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Sofia.

 

5. Kristian Kostov - Eurovision 2017

Kristian Kostov was born in Moscow to a Kazakh mother and Bulgarian father. As a child, he learned Bulgarian from his father, while his brother taught him English.
At the age of 5, Kostov began singing and playing the piano, because he was very shy and needed to open up a little. By that time he joined Moscow-based vocal group "Neposedi", which has also gathered Russian duet t.A.t.U for the first time.
He was a finalist in season one of The Voice Kids Russia and a runner-up in the fourth season of X Factor Bulgaria. He represented Bulgaria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song "Beautiful Mess", finishing in 2nd place. In January 2018, Kostov won the EBBA Public Choice award.

 

6. EQUINOX - Zhana Bergendorff - Eurovision 2018 

Equinox is a Bulgarian supergroup of 5 artists that will represent Bulgaria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon with the song “Bones”.
The five-member band consists of Bulgarian singers Zhana Bergendorff, Georgi Simeonov, and Vlado Mihailov, and American singers Johnny Manuel and Trey Campbell. According to Borislav Milanov, who is the producer of the song, the name "Equinox" comes from the term equinox which is the day where the daytime and nighttime are of approximately equal duration all over the planet. This day is celebrated around the world and it is important for all major religions. Milanov also states that "Equinox" also comes from equal, meaning all members of the group are equal.
